About KDASS

Kirklees Domestic Abuse Specialist Services (KDASS) was established in 2024 as an innovative partnership of specialist organisations working across Kirklees. Our shared purpose is to work in collaboration to create safe, accessible pathways to support for people who have experienced, or are currently experiencing, harm caused by domestic abuse. Preventing traumatisation and creating the opportunity for empowerment and choice based holistic support.

We recognise that the impact of abuse is profound and personal. KDASS is committed to providing responses that are compassionate, non judgemental, and grounded in an understanding of trauma. We prioritise choice, dignity, and empowerment, ensuring that people feel heard, respected, and in control of their own journey.

By working together, we strengthen coordinated responses across all agencies so that individuals, families, and communities receive consistent, trauma informed support. Our partnership is dedicated to reducing harm, promoting healing, and helping people rebuild safety and wellbeing in ways that feel right for them.

Responding to the voices of lived experience

People with lived experience of domestic abuse are the best place to identify the support people need to help them recover from abuse.  The Partnership will provide a range of opportunities for people with lived experience to share their stories with us in a way that feels right for them

Working with our communities

Many people who experience domestic abuse may turn to their families, friends and the wider community for support before they approach local services. The Partnership will support communities of geography, identity, online spaces and businesses/ employers to understand the risks posed by those who abuse and their role in protecting the safety and well-being of those at risk.

Enabling Specialist Services

Kirklees benefits from well-established and experienced specialist services for victims/survivors and perpetrators.  The Partnership will support specialist services to be innovative, adequately resourced and embedded across the local community; and to work together around individuals and whole families, respond in trauma informed ways, and be accessible.

Supporting our workforce

Through our Partnership and ongoing work with communities, we have a significant workforce committed to supporting people affected by domestic abuse.  The Partnership will provide a range of opportunities for learning, development and support to establish a workforce with the skills, knowledge, and systems needed to respond effectively to domestic abuse.
