RASAC
RASAC offers specialist counselling for people who have been affected by domestic abuse. Their support is grounded in an understanding of trauma and the many ways abuse can impact emotional wellbeing. RASAC provides a safe, confidential space where people can talk at their own pace, explore their experiences, and begin to rebuild a sense of safety and control.
Therapeutic services are offered for people, aged 18+, who have experienced domestic abuse, at any time in their lives, living in Kirklees. People exploring this option must be free from the abuse and living in a place of safety. The counselling aims to reduce the impacts of trauma, and enable people to move forward in their recovery from domestic abuse.
Connect - Independent Domestic Violence Advocacy (IDVA)
Connect IDVA service provides specialist, trauma-informed support to people at high risk of serious harm from domestic abuse. The service focuses on safety, empowerment, and helping individuals navigate complex systems during some of the most challenging moments in their lives.
IDVAs work alongside people to understand their situation, explore their options, and create personalised safety plans. They offer practical and emotional support, always led by the person’s own choices and priorities. Their role includes advocating on behalf of survivors with police, courts, housing, health services, and other agencies to ensure that their voice is heard, and their safety needs are recognised.
IDVA support is confidential, non judgemental, and grounded in respect. The aim is to reduce risk, increase safety, and help people regain control at a time when it may feel like it has been taken away.
Domestic Abuse Practitioners (KBOP)
DAP is a medium risk service offering support to people of all genders who are currently experiencing any form of domestic abuse. Their work focuses on early intervention and prevention, helping to reduce the escalation of risk and supporting people to remain safely in their own homes if that is their choice and it can be made safe to do so.
DAP can arrange practical safety measures, often known as target hardening, to increase security within the home. Alongside this, they provide a wide range of holistic support, including guidance around legal protection orders, debt and financial advice, counselling, training opportunities, employment support, and other practical help tailored to each person’s needs.
Their approach is grounded in respect, choice, and safety, ensuring that people feel supported and empowered throughout their journey.
